In our series of picks we ask chairperson Colleen Marshall what her picks are for the Festival:
My picks are probably too numerous to list but it will be exhilarating to hear the Mendelssohn Octet in E flat major in a fresh and unique performance. The Schubert String Quintet in C is another favourite but Mahler’s 4th Symphony with the line up of such an outstanding group of musicians will certainly be a highlight for me. Then I am fascinated by the Ligeti and the story behind the discovery of the score. To have Colin Carr present the Bach cello suites is too exciting for words and then the chance to hear the Popper Requiem. It just goes on and I can’t wait!!
Reading through the entire programme makes one forget to breathe!
